Marketing Assistant

Hours:   15 hours a week/Monday to Friday with occasional weekend & evening work (reduced hours June-Aug)

Job Summary:

Our Marketing Assistant is responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies to promote events, engage the community, and increase ticket sales. This role requires a creative and organized individual who can work collaboratively with the team to enhance our presence in the community and beyond. This pivotal role focuses on the success of theatre performances by implementing strategic marketing initiatives to maximize attendance rates.

Key Responsibilities

1. Marketing:

  • Maximized attendance to theatre shows is the primary focus of all marketing efforts.
  • Develop and execute marketing plans in coordination with the general manager & key theatre staff.
  • Plan and execute advertising campaigns, including traditional and digital marketing channels, to reach a wide audience and boost ticket sales.
  • Utilize various traditional and digital mediums/advertising/promotional channels, including social media, e-marketing (social media ads, emails and e-newsletters), and traditional advertising (radio, newspaper, tv), to reach and engage target audiences.
  • Digital marketing, manage the organization's online presence, including website content, social media accounts, email marketing, and online advertising campaigns.
  • Create compelling and engaging content, including graphics, videos, and written materials, to promote events, build brand awareness, and showcase the theatre's offerings.
  • Monitor and analyze marketing performance metrics to evaluate the success of campaigns and identify areas for improvement.
  • Engage with our community and build relationships with key stakeholders to enhance the overall reach and impact of our marketing efforts.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and competitor activities to ensure our marketing strategies remain innovative and competitive.
  • Foster relationships with local businesses, organizations, and media outlets to promote collaboration and increase visibility.
  • Manage the marketing budget effectively, tracking expenditures and ensuring cost-efficient marketing initiatives.
  • Coordinate promotional events, contests, and partnerships to enhance the theatre's presence and attract diverse audiences.
  • Conduct interviews with upcoming performers and partners.
  • Collaborate with the theatre's internal teams, including programming, box office, and technical staff, to ensure seamless communication and coordination of marketing efforts.

2. Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain a digital filing system for documentation of marketing files.
  • Conduct light data entry to maintain accurate records.
  • Ensure poster boards in upper & lower lobby are current.
  • Create promotions for bar & concession specials

3. General Assistance:
  • Assist with event planning and execution.
  • Serve as a member of Board appointed committees.
  • Ensure that theatre safety procedures are properly executed.
  • Report all accidents, injuries, and safety concerns immediately to the General Manager
  • Complete any reasonable duties as assigned by the General Manager to support the theatre's overall operation.


  • Two years previous experience in marketing, preferably in the arts and entertainment industry.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools (specifically Facebook Meta), social media platforms, and content creation software (Canva).
  • Creative thinking and the ability to develop innovative marketing campaigns.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and data-driven decision-making.
  • A passion for the performing arts and a commitment to the theatre's mission.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required for theatre events

Working Conditions:
  • This role may require extended hours during event days.
  • Occasional lifting and moving of equipment may be necessary.
  • The role involves interaction with diverse groups of people.
