DREAMS: The Ultimate Tribute to Fleetwood Mac

October 13, 2017

7:30 pm

From the music to the costumes, Dreams portrays Fleetwood Mac with incredible authenticity. Formed in 2005, this group of talented, diverse performers came together with a passion for the music of this iconic band.

Together Stevie (Tracy Masson), Lindsey (Mario Parente), Christine (Wendy Gorrie), Mick (Todd McGarvey), John (Ray Doucet), are “The Mac Pac”. The fab five are joined by the talents of Stephen Manning (rhythm guitar) and Bob Van Velzen (keyboards), completing this seven piece live production.

Liali Biali

Laila Biali

November 3, 2017

7:30 pm

Award-winning singer-songwriter and pianist Laila Biali melds “traditional jazz with contemporary pop so effortlessly that neither style seems out of place on the same record” (Spinner Magazine).

She has been sought after for tours with GRAMMY award winning artists Chris Botti, Paula Cole, Suzanne Vega and Sting. Laila has also headlined festivals and venues spanning five continents.

Her studio recording, Tracing Light, received a JUNO nomination for “Best Vocal Jazz Album of the Year”, and her follow-up, Live in Concert, was named one of the “Best Albums of 2013” by DownBeat Magazine.

Laila is currently set to release a new album of original songs alongside covers of David Bowie, Coldplay and more.

The Dead South

The Dead South

November 29, 2017

7:30 pm

The Dead South are fast rising to be the new voice of North American Bluegrass. With Nate Hilts' gritty vocals and aggressive guitar strumming, Scott Pringle's soaring harmonies and mandolin chops, Colton Crawford's blazing banjo licks and steady kick drum, and Danny Kenyon's prominent cello melodies, The Dead South blends elements of folk, bluegrass, classical, and rock which results in a unique, modern, and authentic blend of boot-stompin' acoustic music.

With their white shirts and black suspenders, black pants and travellers’ hats, they sing about murderous, estranged spouses and runaway lover cousins. If these hillbillies give you the impression they will be a lot fun — it’s because they are just that.

Quartetto Gelato

Quartetto Gelato

January 19, 2018

7:30 pm

Quartetto Gelato is unique quartet, boasting a Cirque de Soleil acrobat, a four-time world champion accordionist and a virtuoso violinist who is also a brilliant tenor. Four multi-instrument artists perform classical masterworks, Argentinian tangos, gypsy ballads and Latin love songs with plenty of humour and precision.

The group’s first DVD is still broadcast regularly on the PBS network. In addition to sold out performances in Tokyo, Korea, Mexico, New York and all across Canada, Canadian astronaut Dr. Robert Thirsk took their CD on board during his NASA flight on the space shuttle Columbia, and Quartetto Gelato was heard, literally, around the world. Their 9th disc features works written for the group by Canadian composers that highlight its signature style – a blend of fun, eclecticism, international flavours and superb musicianship.

Blake Reid Band

February 10, 2018

7:30 pm

Blake Reid draws from his deep-seated farm roots to tell his story through music. Coming from a five-generation farm family in Cremona, Alberta, Reid has the ability to create diverse tracks while maintaining his innate, homegrown country style.

Through captivating stories colored with influences from folk, roots, americana, outlaw country and bluegrass, the Blake Reid Band takes the audience on a musical journey celebrating life on the Canadian Prairies.

This band’s great sound, their high energy and familiar stories will stir your soul.

Jeffery Straker

With Saskatoon Symphony Chamber Players

April 7, 2018

7:30 pm

Award winning Saskatchewan singer-songwriter-pianist Jeffery Straker teamed up with the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra in 2013 for a sold out concert at the 2000 seat TCU Place. The review of the concert read, “Simply spectacular…clearly one of the province’s best cultural exports.”

In an intimate reunion of that concert, the SSO 12-member chamber ensemble is once again taking the stage with Straker in an exciting concert partnership.
